Shillong, May 21:The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Sports Training Centre (STC), Shillong has announced mid-term selection trials for induction of talented young athletes into its residential and non-residential training schemes for the year 2025–2026.
The trials will cover six disciplines — Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Football, Judo, and Karate — and will take place at the SAI STC facility within the NEHU Campus, Shillong. Interested candidates between 12 to 18 years of age are encouraged to participate as per the schedule below:
Trial Schedule:
- Archery, Athletics, Boxing & Karate
Dates: May 30–31
Time: Reporting at 8:00 AM
Age Group: 12 to 18 years
- Archery: Residential (Girls only) & Non-residential (Boys & Girls)
- Athletics: Residential (Boys & Girls)
- Boxing: Residential (Boys only)
- Karate: Residential (Boys & Girls)
- Football
Dates: June 2–3
Scheme: Non-residential (Boys only)
Reporting Time: 8:00 AM
- Judo
Dates: June 9–10
Scheme: Residential (Boys & Girls)
Reporting Time: 8:00 AM
Selection will be based on sports performance, potential, and merit, including achievements at international, national, state, and district levels. Athletes will also undergo age-appropriate skill and fitness tests, as well as attitude assessments.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Age: 12 to 18 years as of April 1, 2025 (age relaxation for candidates with exceptional potential).
- Performance: At least a top-three finish in recognized district-level competitions or equivalent.
- Medical: Candidates must produce a medical fitness certificate from a recognized medical practitioner at the time of trial.
Required Documents:
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- Aadhaar card
- Attested copy of birth certificate from authorized institutions
- Certificates of sports achievements
Candidates are reminded that SAI will not be responsible for any eventualities during the trials. Final admission is subject to verification of age and medical fitness.
