According to the petitioners, the landlords Raj Kumar and his nephew Amit Sharma were involved in the murder of the girl. Amit Sharma was a frequent visitors to the landlord’s residence.

Allegation of foul play and negligence on the part of local authorities have long plagued the case.

The family members have alleged that initial investigation by the police was incompetent and bias with an intention to shield the accused.

The Supreme Court said: “apparently there seems to be no reason for a young girl of 21 years of age to commit suicide. Prima facie it does not seem to be a case of suicide.”
