Shillong, June 16: The proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) on Sunday claimed that there has been a ‘serious internal breach’ within the organization after an individual entrusted with financial responsibilities has collected “contributions” without authorization from the finance secretary.
“An individual previously entrusted with financial responsibilities has unlawfully collected contributions without the knowledge or authorization of the Finance Secretary. Such conduct is a betrayal of the trust placed in the Council and a threat to the moral integrity of our movement,” HNLC general secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said in a statement.
He also warned, “Any individual, whether a member or associate of the Council, found engaging in unauthorized collection of funds will face serious disciplinary actions.”
Nongtraw also reiterated that HNLC is not a loose gathering of individuals, but a disciplined Council with a clear mission, and misappropriation and opportunism have no place in its ranks.
