Imphal, Nov 22: Manipur Police have arrested seven individuals from Phayeng Bazar in Imphal West district for allegedly running a clandestine liquor manufacturing unit.
The accused have been identified as Chingakham Bihari, Madhav Lahon, Chandan Lahon, Bimal Neog, Buddheswar Neog, Hemanta Neog, and Tilak Neog.
According to the police, the group was operating a large-scale illegal bottling and packaging facility.

“During the raid, we seized multiple 200-litre steel drums filled with alcohol-like liquid, bottling machines, pressure gauges, and several plastic drums containing liquid with an alcoholic odour,” said a police official.
Authorities also recovered empty barrels, unlabelled bottles, label stickers printed with “McDowell,” and bundles of carton boxes branded “Iconiq” and “McDowell,” indicating a sophisticated counterfeit liquor operation.
All seven individuals have been handed over to the concerned police station for necessary legal action under the Manipur Liquor Prohibition Act, 1991, the report stated.
