Shop Owner, Staff Injured in Scuffle With Drug Addict in Shillong

Shillong, Aug 21: A quarrel between a grocery shop owner and a drug addict turned violent on Wednesday evening, leaving two persons injured at Quinton road, Shillong.

According to East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem, the incident occurred around 7:40 pm when the drug addict broke a bottle in front of the shop. When the owner, Ahauddin Chaudhary (38), and his staff, Jiyabun Rahman (17), asked him to clean it, a scuffle broke out.

“The drug addict assaulted them with a sharp object, injuring Rahman on his right arm and Chaudhary on his right cheek,” Syiem said.

Both victims were rushed to Civil Hospital, Shillong, where they were treated and released. The SP added that they have been advised to lodge a formal complaint so that necessary legal action can be taken.
