South Garo Hills police seizes 1.985 kg of marijuana from truck in Baghmara; driver held

Tura, Aug 21: ANTF South Garo Hills, Baghmara, conducted a joint operation with 43 BN BSF and seized 1.985 kg of suspected marijuana (ganja) concealed under one white and blue-coloured plastic bag.

This operation was successful after the ANTF of SGH received a reliable source of information that contraband marijuana (Ganja) is being brought or transported to Baghmara by the driver of a truck bearing registration No. ASI 8AC3755 meant for smuggling to Bangladesh.

Following that, a joint operation was conducted, and a vehicle was spotted parked at an Indian oil fuel pump at Bolsal Ading. After that, the vehicle was searched, and around 1.985 kg of suspected marijuana (ganja) concealed under one white and blue-coloured plastic bag were recovered.

Accordingly, the recovered contraband along with the vehicle was seized, and the driver, identified as Md. Lmdad ur Rahman of Goalpara, Assam, was taken into custody for 10 days for further investigation.

A case has also been registered, and an investigation is underway in this case.
