Shillong, Sept 13: The Government of Meghalaya has announced that a State Funeral will be accorded to former Chief Minister Dr. D.D. Lapang, who passed away on September 12.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department, the State Funeral will be held in Shillong on September 15, at Student’s Field, Jaiaw, at 1:00 PM. Following the ceremony, the burial will take place at Jaiaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Weiking, Jaiaw.

Dr. Lapang, fondly known as “Maheh,” served as Chief Minister of Meghalaya five times during his political career. His passing marks the end of an era in the state’s political history.
