The joint inspection between the regional committees of Assam and Meghalaya to the remaining six areas of difference may be delayed due to the upcoming Assembly polls in Assam, according to Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong.
Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and MDA Spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh on Thursday said that while the state is fully prepared with all necessary documents for the interstate boundary talks with Assam, no major decisions are expected to be taken anytime soon due to the ongoing election season in Assam.

The Jaintia National Council (JNC) on Wednesday urged the respective regional committees of Assam and Meghalaya for Jaintia Hills to conduct a historical survey so that the border talks between the two States will ensure that the historical background of the Pnar community will be kept into consideration.
