The Churachandpur District Magistrate on Monday imposed Cr.P.C 144 (2) for two months after 30 persons were injured in a group clash in an around Thingkangphi village in Manipur's Churachandpur.
The state government act followed a Supreme Court directive issued on November 28, emphasizing the need for dignified burial or cremation for all victims, including the 88 bodies that remained unclaimed by their respective families by December 15.
Led by Ngaineikim from Kuki Women organization for human rights, the program's inauguration had fervent speeches, presentations, and solemn moments dedicated to the victims.
The rally was backed by the Joint Philanthropic Organisation (JPO) in terms of arrangement and other logistics and was flagged off by N. Neihsial, Finance Secretary of Christian Goodwill Mission at Lamka Public ground Hiangtam around 10:30 AM.
The operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur , Kakching, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts, a police statement said.
In a major breakthrough, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh informed on Sunday evening that the main culprits responsible for the abduction and murder of two students have been arrested from Churachandpur.
