Former Thanlon MLA Vungzagin Valte, who never recovered from the brutal mob attack he suffered during the outbreak of ethnic violence in Manipur in May 2023, was laid to rest on Saturday—132 days after his death.

A delegation of Tangkhul Naga tribals from the Sinakeithei Village Authority in Manipur’s Ukhrul district on Wednesday met Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh at his official bungalow and urged the government to deploy state police forces, including the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), in their village amid the prevailing tension in the state.

Senior BJP leader from Manipur Khemchand Singh on Monday said that state leaders would abide by whatever decision the party high command takes to resolve the leadership issue in the state.
