Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Home (Police) Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said while pressure groups checking documents of laborers is acceptable, any actions beyond that, such as threatening or torturing, are not allowed by law.
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has invited pro-Inner Line Permit (ILP) groups for talks on Friday following their decision to intensify checking of documents of migrant workers across the Khasi-Jaintia region of the state.
