A rare insect that emerges only once every four years has once again returned to Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, as the Ñiangtaser Festival 2026 began on Friday at Iewsir Saiden village, drawing crowds of villagers, students, tourists and nature enthusiasts from across the state.
The Ri-Tyngkai Festival 2026 concluded peacefully after bringing together rural youth and community leaders in Mawlong village, Ri-Bhoi district. The event was organised by Hid Foundation Shillong in collaboration with Seng Samla Shnong Mawlong to provide a platform for young people and children to showcase their talents.
