The District Magistrate of West Garo Hills, Jagdish Chelani, has issued an order informing that all educational institutes in Tura Municipal Area (Tura Town) will remain closed on Tuesday (July 25).
A quick breakthrough has been made into the attack on the chief minister’s meeting with ACHIK leaders at CMO Tura in Dakopgre, Tura, with 18 people including two BJP Mahila morcha women in police net while two Trinamool leaders who also instigated the crowds are on the run.
While the CM was having a peaceful meeting with representatives of ACHIK and GHSMC at the CMO Tura, an unruly mob started pelting stones at the police and his office, resulting in injuries to several police personnel.
The meeting, aimed at addressing the demands of the protesting civil bodies, took a tumultuous turn when a group of agitated vested interest individuals in the crowd resorted to pelting stones at the CMO building and security personnel, and attempted to break open the gate on Monday evening.
The Civil Society groups led by ACHIK that included GHSMC and others have been on indefinite hunger strike for two weeks in Tura, West Garo Hills, demanding the establishment of winter capital in Tura and retrospective implementation of the roster system/ backlog policy.
The scale of the violence in Manipur and attacks on women, witnessed from a leaked video that targeted women, which has shaken the conscience of India has also shocked the people of Garo Hills.
