Guwahati, April 28: Anand Mishra, a former IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has announced his candidacy for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He extended an invitation to the public to join him in Buxar on the day of his nomination filing, as expressed in his tweet: “We are Filing Nomination for Lok Sabha Election – 2024 from 33-BUXAR LS Seat (Bihar) on 7th May, 2024. Everyone is cordially invited on 07-05-2024 @ 10 AM to Buxar, Bihar please 🙏🏻😊”.

In December 2023, Mishra announced his resignation from the IPS, expressing a desire to engage in social services and pursue personal goals that align with a life of freedom and independence.

Initially, Mishra had set his sights on contesting the Lok Sabha elections on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket. However, after being unexpectedly denied the party’s nomination, he made a strategic pivot and resolved to run as an independent candidate from the Buxar Lok Sabha constituency in his home state of Bihar.

Over the past few months, Mishra has been tirelessly crisscrossing the length and breadth of the constituency, engaging in grassroots-level interactions with residents from all walks of life. His door-to-door campaign has allowed him to gain a deep understanding of the issues and challenges faced by the local populace, enabling him to formulate a people-centric agenda for his electoral bid.
