Shillong, July 19: Three persons were injured in a head-on collision between a six-wheeler truck and a private vehicle at Thiepjaphlang under the jurisdiction of Mawshynrut Police Station.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 8:00 AM on July 19, when a truck bearing registration number AS 01 AC – 6971, en route to Nongstoin, collided head-on with an Alto 800 car (ML 05 Q – 8480). The car was driven by Torich R. Marak (58), a resident of Cherangre, Tura, in West Garo Hills. He was accompanied by his wife, Jrybina M. Sangma (51), and their son, Darnel M. Sangma (17).

All three victims were immediately shifted to Nongstoin Civil Hospital by a 108 ambulance team. The driver, Torich R. Marak sustained serious injuries and was later referred to Woodland Hospital in Shillong for advanced medical treatment. The condition of the other two occupants is reported to be stable.
Meanwhile, the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Both vehicles have been towed and are currently in police custody for further legal proceedings.
Mawshynrut Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
