TMC Likely to contest solely from Tura Seat in upcoming MP election: Dr. Mukul

Must read

Shillong, Feb 16: TMC leader Dr. Mukul Sangma announced on Friday that the party is likely to contest only the Tura Parliamentary Seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

Sangma mentioned that negotiations were still ongoing, but it seems unlikely to materialize. Therefore, the decision was whether to contest both seats or not. “However, we have consistently expressed our preference to contest one seat and allow other parties to contest the other seat, as we share the common goal of challenging the current administration,” said Sangma.

He further stated that the final decision will be made within a couple of days, possibly by tomorrow or at the latest by Monday, and the candidate’s name will be announced.

When asked if he would be contesting, Dr. Mukul replied, “I don’t want to reduce the number of 60 in a house of 60 in as far as the assembly is concerned.”
