TMC seek Left’s help in Tripura expansion

Agartala, Aug 14: All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Bratya Basu on Saturday sought support from the Left electorates to ensure its victory in the ensuing assembly elections slated for 2023.

Addressing a Press Conference here in a private hotel, Basu said, “Mamata Banerjee has a prolonged history of fighting as an opposition leader. She led from the front for the interest of Bengal people on countless occasions. Be it Nandigram, Be it Shingur, she was always leading. But in Tripura, the Left has failed in proving their presence within three years of being ousted from power. I would like to urge the CPI-M activist don’t repeat the historic blunder that the Left had done in Bengal. The Left leaders, if they can’t handle the situation, should send their supporters to the Trinamool camp and I assure them Mamata Banerjee’s party will take care of everyone.”

Basu also reiterated his party’s call for a change and said that the people of Tripura want a change in the state. ” BJP has blatantly failed to live up to the hopes and aspirations of Tripura people. We have witnessed how people of Tripura are seeking a shelter,” he said.

Replying to a question regarding the post-election violence, Trinamool Congress woman leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said “not a single such incident has taken place in Bengal. There is a fake news factory that is being sponsored by the BJP. There is a machinery of 700 people who manufacture fake news for them. The BJP looks for dead bodies and whenever they find someone, they brand it as their own Karyakarta. Many times, this IT team has apologised for their fake news manufacturing.”

Meanwhile, the TMC leaders were caught in a wrong foot with a question regarding deceased journalist Sudip Datta Bhowmik. The question was regarding Mamata Banerjee’s promise of giving a government job to the son of journalist Sudip Datta Bhowmik who was killed in a TSR camp.
