Kohima, June 20: Nagaland School Education Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome on Saturday inaugurated a new futsal court at D. Khel Ground in Kohima Village and distributed agricultural equipment to local farmers, underscoring a twin focus on youth development and rural livelihoods.

The futsal court, constructed under the Iconic Project 2025-26 of the Local Area Development Programme (LADP), is expected to provide the youth of Dapfhütsumia Khel with a modern sporting facility for training and competitive activities.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Yhome said the state government is investing Rs 2.20 crore per constituency through the LADP and Iconic Project schemes, stressing that development initiatives in a resource-constrained state like Nagaland must be need-based and driven by grassroots coordination.

He lauded the Iconic Project Committee and the Village Adoption Committee for successfully implementing the project and encouraged young sportspersons to make full use of the facility to cultivate discipline, teamwork and excellence.

In a parallel initiative aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector, Dr. Yhome distributed power tillers, brush cutters, water pumps and paddy threshers to farmers. He said the equipment would help reduce manual labour, improve farm efficiency and enhance productivity.

Welcoming the initiatives, D. Khel Council Chairman Keneizezo Yiese described the projects as significant investments in both the district’s youth and farming community. Neilakuolie Yiese of the Farmers Wing, 10th Northern Angami Assembly Constituency, also addressed the gathering.

The programme was chaired by Dapfhütsumia Youth Organization Vice-President Noumvüzolie Sachü, while Associate Pastor Thinuohelie Sachü delivered the invocation.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Iconic Project Committee Convenor Zakievou Sachü.

Among those present were SDO (Civil) Kohima Seyiekhrietuo Solo, National Road Safety Council member Dziesekhrienuo Keretsü, Kohima Village Youth Organization president Mhasimhalie Matthew Yhome, and former NWA champion Kezhalelie Keretsü.
