Tripura Assembly polls: Tripura sees incidences of violence on polling day

Agartala, Feb 16: As Tripura began polling for its 60-member legislative assembly on Thursday morning, incidents of violence were reported from some areas.

In one incident, polling agents were reportedly assaulted in the morning hours at Booth No. 3 and 4 of Shalgarh Centre under 33-Kakravan constituency.

In another incident, one supporter of CPI(M) was beaten outside of the Kalacherra polling station in the 36-Shantirbaazar constituency in South Tripura district.

As per reports, he was taken to hospital by officials and following the injury he is not able to tell the names of the attackers.

Meanwhile, a Suo Motu FIR has been lodged in Shantirbaazar Police Station in the South district.
