Agartala, Dec 13: The Tripura Congress on Wednesday announced ‘Congress Apnar Dware’, a mass outreach movement to connect with individual households with an appeal to stand against BJP over 17 points including purported failure to fulfill public aspirations.

Tripura Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha said his party is concerned at the way religious politics, polarization, and communal politics have cast its shadow on Tripura along with rest of the country and alleged that religious bigotry is being spread in the state with tacit support of the state government.

Referring to a recent announcement of Janajati Suraksha Mancha (JSM), a tribal Hindutva body here, to hold a rally on Christmas Day demanding to delist converted tribals from ST list and a recent temple controversy where a purported mosque is claimed to be a Jagannath temple by BJP supporters, the Congress leader said, “There are efforts to create rifts between communities and ethnic communities. We condemn these nefarious plans and demand the government to maintain neutrality and withdraw permission for the JSM rally. The government should also ensure unity and integrity among all communities and that no scare is created among the people.”

He said Congress would be starting ‘Congress Apnar Dware’ movement from December 15 onwards for the rest of the month and said the party would reach out to individual households across the state in association with district Congress bodies and frontal organizations and know their issues, talk about deprivation under BJP’s watch and shall hand over a leaflet of 17 points on these issues.
