Boko, April 26: In a swift and coordinated late-night operation, police teams in the Boko–Chaygaon subdivision rescued two kidnapped persons and arrested five accused allegedly involved in a ransom plot.
According to police, information was received around 11:30 PM from Noonmati Police Station officer-in-charge Inspector Uttam Tamang regarding the abduction of Md. Sanidul Ali (24). The kidnappers had allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh and issued death threats if their demand was not met.
Acting immediately, teams from Sontoli, Topamari, Mandira and Chamaria police stations launched a joint operation under the supervision of Co-District Superintendent of Police Jan Kishore Gogoi. The operation was supported by technical inputs and local intelligence from the Sontoli area.
During the operation, police intercepted a Maruti Swift (AS-01FT-9573) at Selosuti Mathauri and apprehended five suspects on the spot. The accused have been identified as Abu Jobayer Akond (24), Sajid Ali (23), Haidar Ali (20), Rakibul Alamin (19), and Noor Islam (19), all residents of the Chamaria LAC area in Kamrup district.
The two victims—Md. Sanidul Ali of Noonmati in Kamrup (Metro) and Imdadul Hoque (28) of Kalgasia in Barpeta—were rescued from wrongful confinement. Police said the duo had been abducted for ransom.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace other possible associates and establish the full extent of the crime.
