‘Ujjwala Bharat, Ujjwala Bhavishya’ celebration program held in the state

Shillong, July 30: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the state of Meghalaya held a program on the ‘Ujjwala Bharat, Ujjwala Bhavishya’ at U Soso Tham auditorium, Shillong.

Cabinet Minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Renikton said, “The government is very serious to correct all the problems, all the defects and I am happy to inform you that I have received the information that the government through the power department has sanction to replace all the damaged transformers. There are 300 sanctioned transformers in different villages.”

Additional Chief Secretary, D.P Wahlang, informed, “In about 19-20 villages, we have generated power through solar energy system because we cannot reach the villages because they are too remote.”

The program also witnessed three testimonials from individuals from the rural areas who talked about the importance and the help the villages have received through the coming of this ‘Ujjwala Bharat, Ujjwala Bhavishya’ program.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the power consumers of Meghalaya virtually on Saturday during the program.
