Tinsukia, March 22: The banned militant outfit ULFA(I) reportedly fired five RPG shells at an Assam Police commando camp located at 8th/10th Mile under the Jagun police outpost of Lekhapani Police Station in Tinsukia district on Sunday. The attack comes ahead of Assembly elections.
Sources said at least four commandos were injured in the attack. The outfit has claimed that four of the five shells exploded inside the camp.

However, there has been no official confirmation from the police or district administration so far, and details regarding casualties or extent of damage are yet to be independently verified.
Sources indicated that the attack may be an attempt by ULFA(I) to disrupt the state’s peaceful atmosphere and reassert its presence ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
Further details are awaited.
