Shillong, Jan 13: Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics & IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Friday referred to promises made by the opposition All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) as “opportunistic”.
He also launched a blistering attack on the TMC for spreading canards against the BJP and painting it as a party that was biased against minority communities.
Ridiculing the TMC’s promise to provide over 3 lakh jobs to the youth of Meghalaya, Chandrasekhar said the youth of West Bengal are suffering because of the TMC.
West Bengal has remarkably little private investments. Technology and electronics has created 18 lakh new jobs in the last one year alone but nobody has made an investment in West Bengal. “So it is very easy for some political parties who have no track record of development, who have no track record of performance, to come and make these promises. These are empty promises,” he said.
“These are the same kind of promises they have made in West Bengal, they have made in Goa; people have rejected them repeatedly because they know these are plain outright political opportunistic promises that have been made by this party,” he added.
Chandrasekhar also said that the TMC represents “opportunistic politics” while the BJP represents development and the future of prosperity and opportunity for every Indian and every citizen of Meghalaya.
“Our party is a party that is committed to service and as PM says we build this new vision of new India, we work to build this new India, we don’t just come during elections, make promises and then disappear after elections to make the next sets of promises in the next election,” he said.
Slamming the TMC and other opposition parties for trying to create fear among the Christian community by spreading misinformation about the BJP, the union minister said this is because opportunistic parties like the TMC cannot compete against the BJP on the development front.
“Their track record on the development front is very poor. They are therefore spreading misinformation to paint the BJP as being biased against some communities. They are doing so to instill fear in the minds of the people so they do not develop trust in the BJP,” he said.
He said these lies should be totally exposed because the BJP and PM Narendra Modi believe in Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas that is for everybody’s progress, for every citizen’s growth and prosperity.
“So, there is absolutely no truth in any of these allegations being made by opportunistic parties like TMC that the BJP is anti-people,” he said.
On the allegation that the BJP is not accepted by the people of Meghalaya, Chandrasekhar said, “I actually think the opposite. I think people all around the country including the states in the NE including Meghalaya which have been long ignored in terms of development, long ignored in terms of infrastructure, long ignored in terms of education and skills and economic opportunity, are now under PM’s vision of new India, coming into the mainstream, more and more investments and more and more opportunities are being created and therefore, when parties have no other answers, no other challenge to this kind of development politics, they resort to fear mongering, they resort to lies and misinformation. It is a politics of misinformation which we will counter at every step with truth and facts.”
