Shillong, June 22: Continuing its long-standing tradition of fostering academic excellence, the Vivekananda Sangha on Sunday evening hosted a felicitation programme to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Shillong’s meritorious students in the 2025 academic year.

The ceremony, brimming with pride and encouragement, saw distinguished guests, elated parents, and the city’s top-performing students gather to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.

The event was graced by notable personalities, including Prosenjit Dey, Secretary of JRWC; Jitendra Kumar Das, OBRCWC; and Keith Pariat, Trustee-in-Charge of Earle Holiday Home, Shillong. As a gesture of respect and appreciation, each guest was presented with a traditional “uttoriyo” by Paritosh Das, General Secretary, and Anango Mohan Paul, President of the Sangha.

A special segment of the evening was dedicated to the young achievers themselves, who were warmly welcomed with uttoriyos, marking their academic milestones. Among those celebrated were Ranchita Paul, who remarkably secured the 6th rank in her Class 12 board exams.

Other bright students felicitated included Priyanshu Dey from BSF Senior Secondary School, Pranjal Das from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Happy Valley, and Tanushri Acharjee from Army Public School. From Shillong Jail Road Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Jagannath Roy was honored, alongside Diptanshu Dey and Manav Deb from BK Bajoria School. St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School proudly saw Chitra Malik, Sneha Das, and Anusmita Deb among the recognized students.

The atmosphere was further charged by encouraging and insightful speeches from the dignitaries. Jitendra Kumar Das, Prosenjit Dey, and Keith Pariat took to the podium, each commending the students’ perseverance and commitment to their studies. The culmination of the felicitation saw the students receiving official Certificates of Appreciation, accompanied by token cash awards, recognizing their tangible achievements. The evening concluded on a high note with Keith Pariat presenting mementoes to all the meritorious students, a lasting symbol of their success.

The Vivekananda Sangha continues to embody the spirit of Swami Vivekananda’s powerful words: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.” This annual celebration serves not only as a platform for recognizing academic prowess but also as a profound source of motivation, inspiring other young minds across Shillong to strive for their own peaks of excellence.
