Guwahati, July 14: Assam Police on Sunday detained a 38-year-old woman accused of murdering her husband and burying his body within the premises of their residence at Joymati Nagar in Pandu.
The accused, identified as Rahima Khatun, reportedly confessed to killing her husband, Sabiyal Rahman, and burying his body in the house.

“We received information about the deceased and have initiated an investigation. There are indications of possible family disputes, but the exact circumstances will become clear only after a thorough probe,” said a police official.
According to police sources, the murder took place on June 24, but the incident remained hidden until the woman surrendered.
The sister of the deceased has alleged that Rahima Khatun was involved in an illicit relationship with another man, and both were complicit in the murder.

“Rahima Khatun has confessed to the crime and is currently in our custody. Interrogation is underway,” the police official added.
Police said a formal case will be registered after the collection of all necessary evidence.
