Tura, July 26: In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy allegedly attacked and killed his elder brother with an axe at Deran Gittim, Chitoktak, Tura, late last night.

The victim, identified as Jekil M. Sangma, succumbed to his injuries after the assault.

According to sources, the incident occurred following a heated altercation. Jekil, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, was involved in a quarrel with his mother and others in the household. In a fit of rage, the younger brother struck him with an axe.

The victim was rushed to Tura Civil Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Following the incident, the accused fled the scene but was later produced before police at Chandmary Beat House by family members on Saturday morning.
