Dimapur, June 15: Eleven tribal youth and student organisations based in Dimapur have appealed to Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to press for justice in the killing of six Naga civilians in Manipur, demanding a time-bound investigation and immediate action against those responsible.
In a memorandum submitted through the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur on Monday, the organisations urged the Nagaland government to take up the matter with both the Manipur government and the Centre, describing the alleged abduction, torture, murder and mutilation of the six victims as a “barbaric crime” that has shocked the Naga community.

The memorandum stated that the incident has heightened fear and insecurity among Nagas living in conflict-affected areas of Manipur and raised serious concerns about the safety of civilians amid the ongoing ethnic unrest.
The youth bodies said the recovery of the victims’ bodies had deeply shaken public confidence and underscored the urgent need for justice and accountability.
While acknowledging the Nagaland Chief Minister’s efforts to promote peace and dialogue, the organisations stressed that the gravity of the incident warranted swift intervention from both state and central authorities.
They demanded a comprehensive, impartial and time-bound investigation into the killings and alleged that villagers from Leilon Vaiphei had acted in connivance with armed Kuki militants. The memorandum also expressed concern that no arrests had been made despite statements reportedly provided by survivors.
Calling for accountability, the organisations urged authorities to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and that stronger measures are put in place to protect innocent civilians in conflict-hit areas.

The memorandum was jointly endorsed by 11 organisations: Chakro Angami Kuda Youth Organization, Dimapur Ao Youth Organization, Dimapur Lotha Youth Organization, Dimapur Rengma Youth Organization, Dimapur Eastern Naga Students’ Union, Western Chakhesang Youth Organization, Rongmei Youth Club Dimapur, Tenyimi Youth Organization Dimapur, Western Naga Youth Front, Zeliang Youth Organization Chümoukedima and Zeliang Youth Organization Dimapur.
The submission comes amid growing outrage across Naga civil society groups over the killing of the six civilians and mounting calls for justice and accountability.
