Shillong, April 30: The online registration for vaccination of people above 18 years of age will start from Saturday and Government would initially vaccinate people above 18 years in three urban towns of the state.

Health Minister AL Hek on Friday told reporters that the state is set to receive another slot of 42000 vaccines within a couple of days.

“Depending on the availability of vaccines we will plan the rollout of vaccines but initially, we will start with Shillong, Tura, Jowai, and Byrnihat,” he said.

Asserting that more vaccines have started arriving in the state, the Minister informed that approximately around 15 lakh people in the age group of 18 to 44 in the state will have to be vaccinated.

Meghalaya would require around 30 lakh doses for vaccination of the entire group

Meghalaya has already placed its order for vaccines with the Serum Institute and the institute has asked for a month’s time to provide the requirements of the state.
