Guwahati, Nov 6: In an anti-narcotics operation, Cachar Police seized 20,000 suspected Yaba tablets from the Dakhin Mohanpur area in Assam’s Cachar district on Thursday.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Ibrahim Hussain Mazumder (30) and Mokbul Hussain Mazumdar (26).
According to the police, a Hyundai Grand i10 car bearing registration number ML05AB2463 was intercepted, and 20,000 suspected Yaba tablets were recovered from the vehicle.

A Drug Detection Kit test confirmed a positive result for amphetamine. The entire search and seizure operation was recorded on video in the presence of independent witnesses.
The seized consignment is estimated to be worth ₹6.2 crore in the black market. Further legal action has been initiated, police said.

“We received a tip-off and intercepted a car bearing registration number ML05AB2463. After a thorough search, we recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets from the vehicle. We also seized two iPhones, one scooter, and the Hyundai car during the operation,” said a senior Cachar Police officer.
He added, “Two persons have been arrested, and a case (No. 47/2025) under Sections 22(C), 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered.
