24 Hours on, rescue teams struggle to recover man buried alive in Shillong’s Marten

Shillong, Feb 4: For more than 24 hours, the body of a man who was reportedly buried alive in Marten has not yet been recovered. Police and Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) officials are still conducting rescue efforts to locate and extricate the victim from the waste debris.

The victim, identified as Marshal Marwein, 30 years old, is a ragpicker from Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills, and is a temporary resident of Mawiong, Shillong.

According to the information, Marwein was busy collecting waste items from the dump yard when an enormous pile of garbage collapsed on him.

The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, and as of the filing of this report, ongoing rescue efforts aim to locate and extract Marwein from the debris.
