Tura, May 31: A key bridge at Chaygaon in Assam, on the National Highway connecting Tura and Guwahati, has been declared unsafe for motor vehicles, and authorities have announced an immediate rerouting of all public and private transport. The decision was made due to potential risks associated with the compromised structure.
The closure necessitates a detour via Kukurmara for all vehicles traveling between Tura and Guwahati. This alternate route is expected to add approximately 20 to 25 minutes to the regular travel time. While the detour extends journey durations, authorities emphasize it is a crucial safety measure.

Local authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have urged motorists and commuters to cooperate with traffic personnel. They have also advised the commuters to take into account minor delays and plan their journeys accordingly.

Further assessments or repairs of the Chaygaon bridge are expected soon. Until then, commuters are advised to utilize the Kukurmara detour and remain alert for official traffic advisories regarding the latest updates.
