About Rs 1100 crores has been approved under the RDSS scheme: Deputy CM, Tynsong

Shillong April 30: Meghalaya Deputy CM, Prestone Tynsong informed that the Central Government has approved an amount of over Rs 1,100 crore under the Revamped Distribution Service System (RDSS) scheme. This information came after Tynsong had a meeting with the Union Power Minister, RK Singh at New Delhi on Thursday.

The Deputy CM, who is also the Minister in-charge of Power, said, “The RDSS scheme is to revamp the power distribution system in Meghalaya and the funds to be made available under the RDSS will be utilised to install smart meters and additional transformers in various places of the state”.

Tynsong also informed that the State government will get further sanction for the installation of smart meters in 4.60 lakh households. “We are looking to streamline the supply of power in each and every village through the RDSS scheme. It will be a blessing for the people of the state and the installation of smart meters will improve the billing system”, said Tyngsong.

He further informed that the time frame set for the completion of the installation of smart meters is about one-and-a-half-year period.

“The Union Power Minister has gave his assurance to release the outstanding dues accrued to MeECL amounting to Rs 192 crores”, added Dy CM Tyngsong.
