DIBRUGARH, Mar 8: In a big development, Dibrugarh police arrested Nipen Das, Superintendent of Central Jail, Dibrugarh on Thursday night in connection with the objectionable materials found in the cell of Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh and his nine associates, who were lodged in Dibrugarh Central jail.

Confirming the development, Dibrugarh additional superintendent of police (crime) Sizal Agarwal said Nipen Das, Superintendent of Central Jail, Dibrugarh was arrested under section 13 (1) B of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and section 75 of Assam Prisons Act and a case registered in connection with the incident.

Objectionable material, including mobiles, spy camera along with other things were recovered from the custody of Amrit Pal Singh, the chief of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ lodged in the Dibrugarh Central Jail on February 17, 2024.

The nine associates of Amritpal Singh who were booked under NSA are- Daljeet Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh, Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla.
