Tura, Sept 22: The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of West Garo Hills District on September 20, 2025, intercepted a Maruti Celerio car carrying heroin during a naka check at Kokaimari under Phulbari Police Station.

Acting on reliable intelligence, the ANTF recovered five soap cases containing a total of 53.67 grams of suspected heroin from beneath the seat of one of the vehicle occupants. The vehicle, coming from Guwahati, was carrying five people, including the driver, Noboruddin and a minor.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the contraband was collected from Guwahati ISBT and was reportedly intended for delivery to one Fazadur of Gomaijhora village in West Garo Hills District.

Two individuals, Shri Sahidur Islam (32), of Pushkinipara, and Nazim Uddin Laskar (39), of Narainpur, Silchar, have been arrested. The vehicle, suspected drugs, and other belongings have been seized in accordance with legal procedures. A case has been registered at Phulbari PS (Case No. 40/2025) under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

The arrested individuals were forwarded to court on September 21, under provisions of the NDPS Act.

Superintendent of Police Abraham T. Sangma has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to drug trafficking to the nearest police station or Police Control Room (PCR), Tura.
