Shillong, Sept 22: Akin Analytics, India’s first women-led DeepTech AI and Drone Analytics startup based in Hyderabad, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), an autonomous body under the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India.

The partnership will introduce Akin’s indigenous NIKA2 KDM multi-payload drone (16 kg capacity, designed for hassle-free agri-spraying, mining surveys, and disaster response) to the North-East, along with advanced AI-driven services and training programs across agriculture, mining, infrastructure, energy, and disaster management.

The initiative aims to empower farmers, women’s self-help groups (SHGs), and youth with future-ready tools and skills.

Janaki Pulaparthi, Founder & CEO of Akin Analytics, said:
“We are deeply honoured to partner with NECTAR. This collaboration reflects NECTAR’s commitment to empowering startups and strengthening the DeepTech ecosystem in the North-East and India as a whole. Together, we will make drone technology a key enabler for livelihoods, innovation, and sustainable growth in the region.”
Dr Arun Kumar Sarma, Director General, NECTAR, added:

“This MoU with Akin Analytics is a landmark step—bringing together India’s indigenous drone innovation and advanced AI analytics with NECTAR’s mission of inclusive growth. Through this partnership, we aim to empower farmers, women self-help groups, and youth with future-ready skills. By introducing advanced drones like NIKA2 KDM, we are positioning the North-East as a hub of drone-led innovation aligned with the Prime Minister’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Digital India, and Women-Led Development.”

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Colin Z. Renthelei (Advisor, NECTAR), Rajendra Jena (Chief Geomatics Officer), Simon Phukan (Sr. Admin Officer), Mr Sattyam (Jr. Geomatics Officer), and NECTAR’s geospatial team of drone pilots. Dr PVSL Narasimham, Chairman of Teewave Technologies and Advisor to Akin Analytics, also graced the occasion.

As part of the collaboration, grassroots farmers and youth will receive DGCA-certified drone training and access to indigenous agri-drones distributed under central government schemes. These efforts are expected to boost farm productivity, reduce risks, and create livelihood opportunities.

Akin, which operates a local office at Guwahati Biotech Park, will contribute drone solutions and its AI-powered analytics platform, while NECTAR integrates these into its mission of inclusive socio-economic growth for the North-East.
