Armed Forces launch Agnipath Schemes Awareness Mission in Insurgency-hit villages of Northeast close to Myanmar border

Guwahati, July 11: At a time when Centre has faced violent protests and criticism over the Agnipath scheme, the armed forces have started to reach out to the youth with awareness campaign on the scheme, in the Northeast, led by the Assam Rifles, special awareness camps for rural youths in remote villages close to Myanmar border is being held in Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Manipur. Awareness drives by Army, Assam rifles have been done in areas still infested by insurgent groups and close to the porus border with the neighbouring country.

The awareness in remote militancy prone areas have started with Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh and Koklak district of Nagaland – both extremely remote and has active presence of naga militant groups and used as transit by other Northeast rebel groups like the ULFA(I) to go to their hideouts in Myanmar.

Today the Shamator Noklak Battalion Assam Rifles conducted Lecture on Agni path Scheme as a career in Armed forces at Chokla village,Noklak district of Nagaland. The participants were not only village youths, but also village heads, village elders.

The lecture session included highlights on Eligibility, Financial benefits & terms of service And motivational speech.

On July 9-8, the Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles with an aim to spread awareness among youths and young students regarding the newly introduced Agnipath Scheme of recruitment in the Indian Armed Forces conducted an awareness program for Youths and parents of Lapnan Village in Tirap District. The youths were highly motivated and expressed their profound desire to take up a career in the armed forces. Information brochures were also distributed by the Assam Rifles on the Agnipath scheme elaborating the same.

The awareness program was organized on the occasion of the ‘36th Youth Day celebration of Lapnan Youth association’ of the Lapnan village. The celebrations also included a cultural program including traditional dance performances & music by the youths of the village. The Assam Rifles Jazz Band put up an enthralling performance in multiple languages including local Nokte and Wancho songs mesmerized the audience and left them awe-struck, craving for more.

The event was graced by more than 400 villagers who conveyed there heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for wholeheartedly joining them in their celebrations and making it a huge success.
