Guwahati, May 13: Two persons were injured in a leopard attack, causing severe injuries at Fatasil Ambari area of Guwahati.

The two injured individuals, identified as Suman Kumar Singh and M. Devi, were immediately rushed to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

According to locals, the incident took place on Friday when the leopard suddenly entered the densely populated area in Fatasil Ambari, causing panic among the locals.

Residents in the area were asked to keep an eye on the big cat to prevent any further unwanted incidents.

Meanwhile, the forest department rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to locate the leopard.

“Man-animal conflict has been rising tremendously in Assam due to shrinking of forest covers. The leopard come out of the forest and enter human habitation in search of food,” said an environmentalist.
