Guwahati, Oct 19: The Barpeta district police has arrested one Mustafijur Rahman on Tuesday. He has been arrested as part of the continuous interrogation in the Ansaralla Bangla Terror (ABT) arrests previously done in the Tamulpur and Nalbari district in the last 2 days.
Mustafijur is from the Karagari Village in Barpeta district. As per police, he has been to Tamulpur district for further interrogation.
Earlier, 4 people linked with Jehadi activities were arrested in Assam on Monday. The arrests concerned two districts in lower Assam: Nalbari and Tamulpur.
Two Ansaralla Bangla Terror operative were arrested in Tamulpur Assam. Saddek Ali (38 years) hails from Howli Barpeta and has been teaching at a Madrassa in Tamulpur. As per police sources, he was arrested based on intel from intelligence agencies. While 23-year-old Jakibul Ali is a small time businessman in Na-Mati of Nalbari district of Assam. Both are said to have links with the Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) module in Assam and were involved in radicalisation.
Further, two more were arrested by the Nalbari district police. Md Habel Ali (26), of Choto Alliya village under Ghograpar police station and Abu Raihan (26) from Narayangaon village under Ghograpar police station.
