Guwahati, Mar 27: In a first for Assam’s election campaign, state cabinet minister Ashok Singhal will reach out to voters across 2,500 locations in the Dhekiajuli constituency through a coordinated social media outreach on April 5, 2026.
Addressing reporters on Friday, Singhal said the digital campaign aims to engage an estimated 60,000–70,000 people simultaneously. “I will carry out election campaigning in 2,500 locations of Dhekiajuli through social media, targeting 60,000–70,000 people. I will not use banners or posters, as our organisation is strong enough at the grassroots level,” he said.
He added that the initiative would mark a first-of-its-kind effort in the state. “On April 5, around 60,000–70,000 people will gather virtually as I address them through social media. People will participate in the meeting digitally from different locations,” Singhal said.

Singhal, a minister in the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led cabinet, is contesting from the Dhekiajuli Assembly constituency.
With the Assembly elections approaching, political parties across Assam have intensified campaigning, holding rallies and smaller public meetings to connect with voters.
Polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies in Assam will be held in a single phase on April 9.
