Guwahati, Jan 21: In a major crackdown against narcotics, police seized a large consignment of Yaba tablets on Tuesday night at Bhimajuli under Agia Police Station in Assam’s Goalpara district.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a vehicle on National Highway 17 near Bhimajuli and apprehended a drug supplier identified as Sirajul Islam of Krishnai.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of West Goalpara Co-District Police Officer Abhilash Baruah and Goalpara Deputy Superintendent of Police Alangkrita Saikia.
Agia and Goalpara town police jointly launched the raid following secret information.
During the operation, the police seized a Swift Dzire vehicle bearing registration number AS-01BB-7144. From the vehicle, approximately 4,000 Yaba tablets were recovered.
Police sources informed that the seized consignment carries a market value of over four lakh rupees.
The arrested supplier, Sirajul Islam, is currently being interrogated. Preliminary investigation suggests that several others may be involved in the drug supply network along with Sirajul.
This successful operation marks another significant step in Goalpara police’s ongoing campaign against the menace of narcotics in the region.
