Guwahati, May 12: Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term at a grand swearing-in ceremony held at the Veterinary College Field in Khanapara, Guwahati.

The oath of office and secrecy was administered in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, and BJP national president Nitin Nabin, along with more than 40 NDA chief ministers and deputy chief ministers from across the country.
Alongside Dr. Sarma, four ministers were also sworn in — Rameswar Teli, Atul Bora of the AGP, Charan Boro of the BPF, and Ajanta Neog.
Senior BJP leader Ranjeet Kumar Dass is set to be the NDA’s candidate for the post of Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
