Assam Police personnel chargesheeted in POCSO case within 13 days

Nongpoh, Sept 10: In a swift investigation, Meghalaya Police has chargesheeted an Assam Police personnel accused of sexually assaulting a minor girl under Block-II in Ri-Bhoi district.

The incident occurred on August 27, when the accused, LNK/121 Projen Langthasa of the 18th AP Bn, Lumding, allegedly assaulted the child. Villagers caught him at the scene, but he managed to flee.

An FIR was lodged the next day, and Langthasa was arrested on August 30. In what police described as a record time, the chargesheet was filed on September 10, just 13 days after the incident.

The case has been registered under multiple provisions of the POCSO Act at Nongpoh Women Police Station.
