Guwahati, Sept 1: Assam government has on Wednesday issued fresh standard operating procedure (SOP) easing night curfews till 9 pm and allowed physical classes for students of Higher Secondary final year and above.
Through a notification, the Assam Disaster Management Authority announced that the renewed SOP come into force both at rural and urban areas from 11 AM of September 1, 2021.
“The physical classes for the post graduate, graduate, higher secondary final year, GNM/Nursing courses and that of technical institutions shall be allowed for students having at least single dose vaccine. Before start of physical classes there will be a 3 day vaccination drive for students, faculty and staff,” the notification mentioned.
The hostels have also been allowed to opened for those above 18 years and have taken at least one dose of vaccines.
Assam government was a little finicky about opening up of schools as the students, those below 18 years, have not been vaccinated yet. Hence, the institutes will open for those vaccinated and from Higher Secondary final year who are mostly of or above 18 years old.
Following are other major SOPs
1. Though Night Curfew will begin from 9 pm till 5 am, all work places (Govt. & private offices or establishment), business or commercial establishments, Dine in Restaurants, hotels, resorts, Dhabas and other eateries, takeaway of food items from restaurants or Dhabas and other eateries, opening of Sale counters, showrooms etc. of cold storages and warehouses, shops dealing with groceries, fruits and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, animal fodder will have to shut down by 8 PM across the State.
2. Pillion riding allowed if the rider has taken at least one dose of the vaccine.
3. 100 per cent occupancy in public conveyance both inter and intra district allowed.
However, no standing passenger shall be allowed. For standing passengers heavy fine will be imposed and driving license of drivers/registration of vehicles carrying standing passengers will be cancelled.
4. Meeting/gathering at any open or closed spaces is allowed up to 50 single dose vaccinated persons with prior intimation to local police. However, with prior permission of jurisdictional DC for maximum gathering up to 200 persons (at least single vaccinated) may be allowed. both for public and private functions which will also be applicable for closed spaces subject to ceiling of 50% of the hall capacity.
5. Public gathering is allowed up to 50 single vaccinated persons for marriages /funeral/last rite programme.
6. Religious places are allowed to open with up to 40 single vaccinated persons per hour for iconic places and 20 single vaccinated persons per hour for other religious places.
7. Local administration will fix time for opening weekly markets/ haats for six hours.
8. No Covid test will be done on arrival at airports / railway stations for fully vaccinated passengers. Other passengers will have to undergo RTPCR test paying Rs. 250.
9. Cinema/Theatre Hall shall continue to remain closed till next review.
