Guwahati, April 30: In a commendable act of bravery, two constables from the 10th Assam Police Battalion (10 APBN) on election duty in Uttar Pradesh saved the lives of a mother and her infant daughter, bringing laurels to the Assam Police force.
Havildar Indreswar Medhi from Rajagaon in Morigaon town and Constable Kashyap Deka from Ghogua Kalbari village in the district displayed exemplary courage on the national stage.
According to reports, a contingent from the 10th Assam Police Battalion was deployed in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections. On Saturday, while a group of personnel went to take a dip in the Ganga river after completing their election duty, Medhi and Deka witnessed a woman jumping into the river with her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, apparently in an attempt to commit suicide.
Acting swiftly, the two brave policemen leaped into the river and successfully rescued the distressed mother and her child. They subsequently handed them over to the local police station.
Their courageous act saved two precious lives, earned them praise from the local administration, and brought accolades to the entire Assam Police force across Uttar Pradesh.

Meanwhile, the heroic deeds of Indreswar Medhi and Kashyap Deka have become a matter of immense pride for the 10th Assam Police Battalion and the Assam Police, with their valiant actions widely acclaimed.
