Guwahati, April 30: In a bizarre and reckless incident early this morning in Chatia, Assam, a dumper truck collided with the railing of the Sapekhati bridge, causing significant damage to the structure. Local morning walkers who witnessed the accident immediately alerted the Chatia police.
Upon arrival, the police team inspected the vehicle and made a startling discovery – a phone number had been written on the front of the dumper using toothpaste. When the authorities dialed the number, they were able to retrieve all the details related to the dumper involved in the accident. It was revealed that the number belonged to the vehicle’s driver.
Further investigation revealed that the dumper, which was registered under the number AR-04-A-1895, belonged to a construction firm in Balipara. However, the vehicle had been illegally operated by a handyman overnight without the driver’s knowledge or consent.
The reckless handyman allegedly drove the dumper all the way to the Sapekhati bridge in Chatia and caused the horrific accident. It remains unclear whether the handyman had stolen the vehicle for theft or if he had simply taken it for a joyride, disregarding the safety of others.
The Chatia police have launched a thorough investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this incident. However, the most concerning aspect is that the handyman managed to flee the scene after causing such a dangerous accident, leaving the driver’s number behind as the only clue.
The local authorities are now working tirelessly to track down the irresponsible handyman and bring him to justice. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for stricter regulations and better oversight in the transportation sector to prevent such reckless and potentially life-threatening occurrences in the future.
