Shillong, Sept 25: The Bhartiya Janata Party has appointed Rikman Momin as state president of the Meghalaya BJP and S. Selvaganabathy as president of the Puducherry BJP.
A notification was issued on Monday by BJP’s national general secretary & headquarter in-charge Arun Singh mentioning that the BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Rikman Momin as state president of Meghalaya BJP.
This major development comes days after Ernest Mawrie, former BJP Meghalaya chief had said that the central leadership of the party will decide on whether he should continue to hold the post.
“I have completed my three year term. Whether I continue or discontinue that will be decided by the central leadership,” Mawrie said.
Marwie said this to reporters in response to to a statement made by BJP MLA from Pynthorumkhrah AL Hek that there is a move to drop Mawrie as the state president.
In 2022, BJP had given a ticket to Rikman G Momin as the party candidate to contest for the Tura Lok Sabha Constituency seat in Meghalaya.
