Shillong, April 30: ‘Ka Phan Nonglait-A Lady Freedom Fighter of India’, which is a book based on the valiant tales of the first Khasi female freedom fighter authored by Daniel Stone Lyngdoh was released on Friday by the Executive Member in charge of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Jambor War at the council’s conference hall, Shillong.

‘Ka Phan Nonglait‘ – a freedom warrior from the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya bravely assisted ‘U Tirot Sing Syiem’, who drew his lineage from the Syiemlieh clan and declared war fighting against British for attempts to take control of the Khasi Hills.

Author Daniel Stone stated that he chose the Lady Freedom Fighter as she has bravely fought against the British Colonialism and has said that it took him less than 19 years to write this book.  The author said that, “It is a product of a long research work, after reading many documents and meeting various people like late Rev Sngi Lyngdoh, late Hoping Stone Lyngdoh, late Skendrowell Syiemlieh etc and some British records. From the research, I came to know that she is the icon that stood against British rule.”

Late Nonglait’s fourth generation descendants, Reshningder Nonglait and Magdalyne Nonglait were present. Magdalyne said that they recorded the stories of their forefathers and kept it as a written document.

The Book has been published by Kaushal Goyal of Pigeon India and will be accessible on retail stores Amazon & Flipkart.
