3:56 PM: Tura and Shillong to vote on April 19th as part of Phase 1 of elections .
Counting of votes will be on 4th June
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced the dates for Lok Sabha elections. The election in Meghalaya will be held on April 19 as it falls in the First Phase. The Counting will be held on June 4.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar announced that the Lok Sabha will be held in seven phases. With the announcement of dates the model code of conduct comes into force immediately.
Notification for the first phase of election will be issued on March 20, 2024.
Last date for nomination is on March 27, while scrutiny of papers will be held on March 28.
All Northeastern States will for for polling on April 19. The State Assembly Election will be held simultaneously in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim in the first phase.
