Williamnagar, July 13: A solemn candlelight vigil was held at Rangatari, Garobadha, by the Rema and Ajong Maharis (clans), along with the local community, to demand legal justice for the untimely death of Late Paul A. Marak, a beloved teacher of St. Dominic Savio School, Garobadha.

The vigil saw participation from a large number of people including villagers of Rangatari area, well-wishers, priests, nuns, and teachers from St. Dominic Savio School. The gathering was a reflection of the collective grief and growing concern over the alleged assault that led to the tragic loss of Paul A. Marak.
According to the FIR filed by Sengsalchi R. Marak at the Garodoba OGC on July 9, the 31-year-old wife of the deceased, the incident occurred on the evening of July 8, around 5:30 PM. She stated that her husband, Kilseng A. Marak, also known as Paul A. Marak, came across a group of men—Alek M. Sangma, Songkor G. Morin, Tenjing, and Pijush Ch. Sangma—quarrelling near the Rangatari Bridge. Attempting to intervene and de-escalate the situation, Paul was allegedly attacked and beaten by the group.
He reportedly collapsed unconscious after the assault. Locals rushed him to Garobadha PHC, where he was declared brought dead by the attending medical officer.
Paul A. Marak was not only a respected educator but also a well-loved member of the community. The candlelight vigil was a call for swift and fair investigation, and for justice to be delivered to the family.

The event concluded with prayers and emotional tributes, with participants urging the authorities to take strong legal action against the perpetrators.
